Dance-A-Thon

Event:

Dance-A-Thon Marathon

Purpose:

To teach the community about the importance of eating and living healthy.  We will also give youth an opportunity to burn give off calories and stay physically fit by constantly moving through dance for an extended period of time.

Participants:

The youth, adults, members of the community and SBC Club Members of Stillman Elementary & Washington Community School, Abraham Clark High School, South 17th Street School in Newark, and Irvington High School. Also participating are the faculty and staff at each of the respective schools, along with members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, 21st CCLC of Plainfield, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and board of directors of SCEI.

How does it work?

Each child/adult would receive a sponsorship package to solicit donations on behalf of SCEI from friends and family prior to the Dance-A-Thon.  Each child would need to raise a minimum of $25.00 in order to participate.  Each adult would need to raise a minimum of $50.00 in order to participate. The child and adult that raises the most money will win a prize.  The participants will begin dancing when the music starts and once someone stops moving you are out.

Donations/ Proceeds:

SCEI is a 501 (c)(3) organization and all donations are tax deductible.  The funds raised will be used to underwrite our 2015 Scholarship Luncheon and our Annual Sigma Beta Club Leadership Retreat in the Pocono’s.
