The Sigma Beta Club program provides positive role models and enrichment activities to young men who face many difficult circumstances in the communities in which they live.\u00a0 The Sigma Beta Club program develops wholesome values, leadership skills, educational achievement, community service, and civic engagement in these young men and assists them in becoming effective leaders of tomorrow.\u00a0 SCEI closely observes the special projects of the Sigma Beta Clubs that allow the young members to perform community service.\u00a0 These young men are provided hands on experience in helping others and positively contributing to society.\u00a0 Our mentors are from the community and are successful physicians, accountants, educators, administrators, investment bankers, lawyers, insurance executives, corporate managers, law enforcement officers, and elected officials just to name a few.<\/p>\n
Currently, SCEI collaborates with Irvington (Frank H. Morell) High School, Chancellor Avenue Elementary School in Irvington, Washington Community School, Stillman Elementary & Plainfield High School in Plainfield, Abraham Clark High School in Roselle, and South 17th<\/sup> Street School in Newark.\u00a0 The program sites have a total student membership in excess of 160, ranging from the 4th<\/sup> to 12th<\/sup> grades.\u00a0 Students whom are Sigma Beta Club members have dramatically reduced incident of fighting, truancy, and disciplinary infractions, while improving academically.\u00a0 The Sigma Beta Club program is under the direction of Dr. Kevin West, who is the Superintendent of Roselle Public Schools.\u00a0 Our Sigma Beta Clubs hold the distinction of being named \u201cOutstanding Sigma Beta Club\u201d in the entire Eastern Region of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity on numerous occasions, as well as \u201cTop Sigma Beta Club\u201d in the nation on five occasions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t<\/div> \n\t
